The Avengers” joined the ranks of few in the $1Billion box office club, having reached that point only 12 days in American theaters, and 19 days worldwide.

Currently, The Avengers’ revenue ranks as the 12th highest grossing movie of all time, worldwide. However, as tickets continue to sell, it’s predicted to make it’s way to 4th highest grossing movie, behind Avatar, Titanic, and Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Robert Iger, Disney’s Chairman and CEO, said, “We’re obviously thrilled with the global success of The Avengers. It’s a fantastic movie and an extraordinary franchise that will continue with more great stories and compelling characters for years to come.”

Disney is accustomed to producing billion-dollar movies, having created four previously. Avengers joins the pack with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($1.066 billion), Toy Story 3 ($1.063 billion), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ($1.044 billion) and Alice in Wonderland ($1.024 billion). Disney is, to date, the only studio possessing more than 2 billion-dollar franchises.

In the Ozarks, B&B Ozark/Nixa 12 with Marquee Suites sold out 4 of it’s auditoriums for the midnight premiere of The Avengers – they also ran the Marvel Marathon and premiere (a 14.5 hour movie experience) in one additional theater. Brock Bagby, the research analyst for B&B, reports that Friday night they sold out 5 auditoriums, and had to open a sixth auditorium for the movie Saturday night.

LocalOzarks caught up with B&B Theatres for the premiere. Here are photos of that event:
