Slash (Saul Hudson) is perhaps one of the most immediately recognizable icons in Rock n’ Roll history. Best known as the top hat wearing, Les Paul wielding ex-guitarist of Gun’s ‘n Roses, he left the band in 1996, citing personal differences between him and lead singer Axl Rose. He has since achieved success with Velvet Revolver, a super group of sorts consisting of him, former Gun’s ‘n Roses members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, and former Stone Temple Pilots lead singer Scott Weiland. However, in 2008, Weiland left Velvet Revolver to rejoin Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver never officially disbanded, and is currently considered on hiatus.

In the meantime, Slash has launched his solo career, starting with an album simply titled “Slash” in 2010, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200. The album consisted of  14 songs with 13 different vocalists, ranging from Fergie to Ozzy Osbourne, Kid Rock to Iggy Pop. That year, Slash went on tour with Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge (the only artist to be featured in two songs on the album). It was during this tour that Slash asked Kennedy to be the sole singer on his next solo album, which would eventually come to be called Apocalyptic Love. The album has received mixed to positive reviews with critics, but the single “You’re a Liar” has gone into regular radio play on local New Rock radio station Q102.1.

To promote the new album Slash went on tour in Europe. Now he’s bringing the tour to North America, and is coming to Springfield’s own O’Reilly Family Event Center on September 29th! Tickets for the all-ages show went on sale July 13th at $39.50 for basic seating. Go to http://drurytickets.universitytickets.com  for more information.

In an interview with George Spankmeister of local radio station US 97.3, Slash revealed that he would be performing songs from his entire history, including hits from Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver.
