A mother of 4 in Port St John, Fl killed her four children and herself Tuesday morning.

Tanya Thomas, a 33 year-old mother of four killed all her children around 4:50 Tuesday morning.

A neighbor called 911. They reported hearing gunfire, followed by knocking at the door. Three of Thomas’ children – who were already shot and injured – escaped the home and tried to get help. Thomas reportedly called for her children and coaxed them back home. Deputies arrived shortly later, and then more shots were fired inside the home.

Upon arrival police, officers saw Thomas’ oldest child, 17 year-old Pebbles Johnson, lying wounded in the front yard. They drove their patrol car onto the lawn to safely gather the victim. She was alive at the time and rushed to the hospital, but died later of terminal wounds.

The other three children – Joel, 12, Jazlin, 13, and Jaxs, 15 – were all found dead in the house with their mother after the SWAT team entered the home.

There was no indication in the home of preplanned suicide, but a friend received a text from Tanya around 3am saying to cremate her with her children. Unfortunately the friend did not see the text until they woke up in the morning.

Law enforcement have not yet identified the owner of the gun, and have no known motive, but say indications suggest the mother, Tanya Thomas, was the killer.

“I cannot comprehend as a parent doing this to their children … calling them back in and shooting them,”said Lt. Tod Goodyear, a representative of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. “Everything points to it being her.”
